What Involving People in Medical Research & Clinical Trials Can Look Like? - Melbourne 21Nov19

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Interested or involved in medical research and clinical trials as a patient/carer/consumer rep? Are you a researcher or organisation involving people (or wanting to) in your research?

Research4Me is committed building a community interested, engaged and supported to get involved (or involve people) in research. We bring people together online and in person to connect, learn, share experiences, answer questions, raise issues, and find/share opportunities to participate in or get involved in research.

Who is this gathering for?

You are invited to attend this gathering if you believe, like us, that patients and those around them should be involved in medical research to help speed it up, improve the participant experience, and generate the knowledge and products patients are looking for, and would like to network with other like-minded people.

Patients, carers, consumer organisations, research professionals, commercial and non-commercial organisations involved in research and other interested stakeholders are all welcome.

What's its purpose?

Come to listen and meet people, but better still, come to share your own questions, experience and ideas around what involving people in research can look like - the good, the bad, the challenging and inspiring, and help inform our work in 2020.

Format

To keep it small and friendly, numbers will be limited to 30 people, split evenly between those representing the consumer experience and research professional experience to ensure a diversity of views.

The gathering will start with a short introduction from Research4Me about the topic and where we fit in. Over the next 60-75mins we will invite people to share in 5mins their thoughts and experiences of the topic to stimulate discussion, wrapping up with a light lunch over which discussion and networking can continue.

If you are unable to attend the event in person for personal reasons (health, location, caring responsibilities, etc), we are planning to also host a Zoom meeting online. While we recognise listening to discussion online is not always ideal, if you are still interested in trying, please email us or keep an eye on our Facebook group for the link.

Ticket cost

Equity in access to research is one of our values. To make sure money is not a barrier to attendance, we have not set a ticket price. If you can't afford anything, you can attend for free, no questions asked (Just enter a donation of $0 at registration). If however, you are in a position to be able to contribute something small to help cover costs, we'd be hugely grateful.

For complete transparency, we are a social enterprise, but not a charity/non-profit organisation. So any donation will not be tax deductible, and will be GST inclusive. We are happy to provide a tax invoice if required.
